The Story and Face Behind the Brand
Hi! I'm Miranda! The creator and face behind Knot Your Granny's Stitches! I just wanted to come on here and let you know a bit about me and why I started Knot Your Granny's Stitches.
I am a wife to an amazing man, and have two boys, a SAHM by day and a crafter during nap and bed time!
I started to learn how to crochet back when I was a child one summer while we were camping. My grandma wanted to teach all of us how to crochet, but all we cared about was who could make the longest "snake". Years later my grandma died of lung cancer and my grandpa asked me if I would like my grandma's crochet hooks. I gladly accepted them and proceeded to teach myself how to crochet via YouTube! Thus my love for the fibre arts was born and here we are!

I started Knot Your Granny's Stitches really on accident. I wanted to find a way to have a coffee cozy that,
A) Was adorable and
B) Did not stretch after two uses.
I found out that alot of other people had the same problem and Knot Your Granny's Stitches was born!

Why Knot Your Granny's Stitches for the name?
Easy peasy! Anyone who knows me personally knows I am am old soul and I LOVE puns and bad dad jokes! So naturally a pun and the fact that I am an old soul needed to be a part of the name! I always say I have the soul of an 80 year old lady and I will gladly chit chat with anybody in the yarn aisle at Michaels!
Something that brings a huge smile to my face is when people see my name and giggle over the puniness of it (is that a word? It is now!)

Why did I started to sell yarn?

Ever since the horrid event that must not be named happened in 2020, supply went down as to availability in a selection of colours and brands in Canada. My go to's like Michaels and Walmart were empty, online shopping from them became unreliable and I was left stuck with a VERY limited selection in colours I could grab in a pinch from a store. I had to source out websites (beyond the brands direct websites) to find these hard to find colours. I was finding a few websites based in Canada, only for them to shut down or change gears. I was going down to the states and stopping at the closest Joann to stock up on the colours but there were still some still not available even there,

Fast forward to halfway through 2023, I was doing a huge amount of markets and I was going through yarn at a rapid pace. My husband then joked that I should just be buying yarn at wholesale at the rate I was going through yarn. We both laughed at the thought and quickly realized we didn't have the space for that (HA!). Fast forward to Christmas 2023, my husband and I are on a date and we bring up my business and where we see it heading. I kept thinking about how he had said I should wholesale the yarn and we both thought, what IF?! I then looked into it and VOILA! Here we are and I am able to help fellow crafters who seem to all have the same issues when it comes to the colours available.
